It helps to include your iPhone or iPad model, the iOS version, and the text or topic you were on. For a mistake in the Greek, add the word, its sentence, and what you expected.

Restoring purchases

On a new device or after reinstalling, open the Me tab, then Settings, and tap Restore purchases. Ostraka Pro returns for the Apple Account that bought it, including the lifetime purchase. The paywall has the same button.

Cancelling a subscription

Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Ostraka. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends; you keep Pro until then. In Ostraka, Me → Settings → Manage subscription opens the same page. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Which pronunciation?

Restored Attic, Greek as it sounded in Athens in the 5th century BC, is the default. Koine, the Greek of the New Testament, can be chosen in Me → Settings → Pronunciation. Words show a transliteration and IPA for the scheme you pick. Ostraka never reads ancient texts in Modern Greek pronunciation: if your device’s voice can’t follow the reconstruction, the speak button is hidden.

Greek fonts

Greek is set in Gentium Book Plus, made for polytonic text, with English in EB Garamond. Both are included in the app, so breathings, accents and iota subscripts look right whatever fonts your device has. Text size is in Me → Settings.

Offline use

Everything works without a connection: lessons, texts, the dictionary, games and review. A connection is needed only to buy or restore Pro, and to open a word in Logeion, Wiktionary or Perseus, which open in your browser.

Your data

Ostraka has no account. Your progress, saved words and settings are stored on your device. To delete them, delete the app; to keep them on a new device, restore an iPhone or iPad backup. The privacy policy has the details.

Version

This page describes Ostraka 1.0 for iPhone and iPad, which needs iOS 18 or later. Your version is shown at the bottom of Me → Settings.
